About our school

Welcome to Desert Heights Charter School!  We are a K-8 charter school located in Glendale, Arizona.   Desert Heights is proud to offer a rigorous academic program aligned with Arizona standards and beyond.  Highly qualified teachers deliver individualized instruction using research-based approaches.  High expectations for all are a key component of our philosophy.  We offer a Title 1 Program. Task forces focus on school improvement in areas identified by research as characteristic of all effective schools.  At least one parent representative serves on each task force.

Students at Desert Heights Charter School further expand their knowledge as a result of exposure to specialty classes such as art, music, Spanish, PE, technology, library, health, character education, and a gifted program.  Every classroom has at least one computer available for student use, and we have a technology lab with thirty computers.  We offer full-day kindergarten and before and after school care from 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.  We are in the process of developing an after school tutoring program provided by some of our teachers for students who are behind.  Older students may participate in basketball, volleyball, flag football, soccer, softball or Student Council.  We provide breakfast and lunch at a reasonable cost, and we participate in the federal free and reduced meals program.
